It is common that in the Los Santos area, the majority of producers deliver their coffee produced in cooperatives or in private mills that are installed in the region. However, since 2006, the era of profits began to occur in Tarrazú, when some of the producers made the relevant decision to invest their savings of more than 25 years in the installation of a coffee processing plant. This means that it is no longer just about producing and delivering your coffee in a hall, but now begins the arduous task of producing it from start to finish.

Jorge
So, Jorge and Ivannia made the decision in 2009 to buy and install their own micro mill – La Montaña Tarrazú. The creation of the benefit was in order to give added value to its product and for it to reach various parts of the world. It is a difficult task, but little by little the results are seen. Don Jorge is in charge of the maintenance tasks of the farm, and his daughter, Daniela, is in charge of the processing and administration of the company.

In Costa Rica, although it may seem ironic, despite being a country that produces very high quality coffees, it is difficult to get good, one hundred percent pure coffees. For this reason, we created our brand, Café Don Lucas, in order to make our country's star product known worldwide. We want to teach and educate people to consume good quality coffee, friendly to their health, and produced and processed in Costa Rica. Furthermore, in order to honor our great-grandfather “Papá Lucas”, who wore his distinguished hat, and who was a pioneer of coffee growing in our family as well as so many men and women who began the production and processing of this fruit . Café Don Lucas represents, for us, the history and passion for what we do.
